Stone Screen, Monastery of St. Michael of Escalada, León

ENG One of the screens separating the transept from the arm of the crossing on the Gospel side in the church of the Monastery of San Miguel de Escalada, León (Castile and León, Spain). Built in the 10th century, it is one of the finest examples of Mozarabic architecture, with these screens standing out for their profuse plant and animal decoration, reminiscent of Umayyad art from the Middle East.
